Directed by Terry George and starring Don Cheadle and Sophie Okonedo, Hotel Rwanda dramatizes the true story of hotel manager Paul Rusesabagina, who sheltered more than a thousand people during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. As violence spreads through Kigali and international support fails to arrive, Paul uses negotiation, contacts and the relative protection of the Hôtel des Mille Collines to keep refugees alive. The film received three Academy Award nominations, including Best Actor for Cheadle and Best Supporting Actress for Okonedo.
