Directed by Shane Black, Iron Man 3 (2013) follows Tony Stark as he faces a new terrorist threat while dealing with the psychological aftermath of the events in The Avengers. Robert Downey Jr. returns alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Ben Kingsley in a story that places Stark outside his usual technological comfort zone. The film combines large-scale Marvel action with espionage elements, advanced weapon technology and a more personal conflict for Iron Man.
