Directed by Wes Ball, The Maze Runner follows a group of teenagers trapped in a mysterious enclosure surrounded by shifting walls and deadly creatures, with no memory of their past. The film blends dystopian mystery with survival-driven action, exploring trust, leadership, and the struggle to reclaim identity. Its escalating tension and worldbuilding launched a darker, more kinetic take on the YA sci-fi genre.

Its broader scope deepens the conspiracy at the heart of the trilogy.
