Jeremiah S. Chechiks National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (1989), written by John Hughes and starring Chevy Chase, follows Clark Griswolds increasingly disastrous attempt to create the perfect family Christmas. As relatives descend and holiday plans implode, the film turns festive chaos into one of the definitive American holiday comedies. Its mix of slapstick, suburban satire, and warm dysfunction has made it a perennial Christmas classic.
