Werner Herzogs Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979), starring Klaus Kinski, Isabelle Adjani, and Bruno Ganz, is a haunting reimagining of F.W. Murnaus silent classic. With dreamlike imagery and Kinskis unforgettable turn as Count Dracula, Herzog transforms Stokers vampire tale into a poetic meditation on plague, death, and desire.

F W Murnaus horror classic was the first screen adaption of Bram Stokers Dracula. As potent and disturbing now as ever, it paved the way for the future of gothic cinema.

Max Schrecks Count Orlok - bald, bat-eared and rabbit-toothed - is at one terrifying and pitiable. His need for blood, for living warmth, is palpable to the point of agony. Featuring some of the most iconic images in cinema, Murnaus interpretation of this great vampire tale has been much imitated, not least by Werner Herzog, whose Nosferatu the Vampyre is an admiring tribute. Nosferatu is newly remastered and accompanied by James Bernards acclaimed score.

Från IMDB:
Count Dracula moves from Transylvania to Wismar, spreading the Black Plague across the land. Only a woman pure of heart can bring an end to his reign of horror.
