Pleasureland – The Album

The first album from Pleasureland is a collection of songs from the minds and hearts from people who stand firmly with one foot in the eighties and the other one very much in the present. Though undoubtedly an AOR-album, the band – based in Gothenburg, Sweden – has put its own spin on things.

After releasing six singles Pleasureland turns yet another page with it’s eponymously album. These are eleven songs with separate identities but also a with a coherent and recognisable sound to them. It’s conceived a concept album, but there is a red line through out most of the material – both in terms of the music as well as the lyrical content.

- We didn’t aim for it, says Jalle Westergren, guitarist and producer. But somewhere along the process, we realised that what we created as a team became something very special. It’s truly a collaborative effort where everyone's contribution really added to the end result.

The bands influences are both diverse and unexpected. Anyone trying to compare Pleasureland with others will find it quite a challenge to pinpoint the exact sources of inspiraGon.

- We are who we are, continues Jalle. We met, more or less, by coincidence but we quickly understood that if let our creative energies blend together it becomes music as we like it. We can only hope that whoever listens to it feels the same way.
