Directed by Johannes Roberts, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021) reboots the long-running franchise with a story closely inspired by the first two Capcom video games. Set in the once-thriving company town of Raccoon City, the film follows a group of survivors as a viral outbreak unleashes undead horrors and mutated creatures. Starring Kaya Scodelario and Robbie Amell, the film emphasizes survival-driven tension and creature-based horror. The narrative returns to the franchises origins with a more contained and atmospheric approach.
