Directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini, Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom relocates the Marquis de Sades story to Fascist-controlled northern Italy in 1944. Four powerful men imprison a group of young people and subject them to escalating sexual humiliation, torture and violence in an allegory about fascism, power and dehumanisation. Pasolinis final film became one of cinemas most controversial and frequently censored works.
