Amy Holden Jones Slumber Party Massacre (1982) is a defining cult classic of the early-80s slasher boom written by feminist author Rita Mae Brown as both homage and subversion of the genres male gaze. A group of teenage girls sleepover turns into a bloodbath when a power-drill-wielding killer invades their suburban home. Part parody, part genuine terror, it remains a landmark of slasher history and women-directed horror.

Deborah Brocks Slumber Party Massacre II (1987) takes the originals feminist slasher template into surreal, rock-and-roll nightmare territory. A young woman plagued by dreams of the first massacre faces a supernatural killer armed with a power-drill guitar. Mixing MTV-era absurdity, dark comedy, and slasher mayhem, its a cult 1980s gem part parody, part fever dream.

101 Films presents iconic slashers The Slumber Party Massacre (1982) and Slumber Party Massacre II (1987), on 4K UHD and Blu-ray in the UK for the first time. Conceived as a parody of the slasher movie, The Slumber Party Massacre was eventually shot as a straightforward horror, leading to some uniquely dark humour both intended and otherwise. The more overtly comical Slumber Party Massacre II was the first of several sequels in what was the first horror series to be exclusively written and directed by women, providing a fresh perspective within an historically male-dominated genre.
