Directed by Mel Brooks, Spaceballs stars Bill Pullman, John Candy, Rick Moranis and Brooks himself in a sci-fi spoof about a rogue pilot, a half-man half-dog sidekick and an evil empire searching for a runaway princess. The film parodies Star Wars, space opera, merchandising, heroic adventure and classic sci-fi storytelling with Brooks broad comic style. Joan Rivers and Daphne Zuniga co-star in this 1980s cult comedy.

MAY THE SCHWARTZ BE WITH YOU

In 1987, comedy legend Mel Brooks (Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein) set his satirical sights on the sci-fi blockbusters of the era, resulting in Spaceballs a deliriously funny send-up of Star Wars, Star Trek and every intergalactic adventure in between.

When the evil Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis, Ghostbusters) plots to steal the air supply of peaceful planet Druidia, its up to roguish space pilot Lone Starr (Bill Pullman, Independence Day), his sidekick Barf (John Candy, Planes, Trains and Automobiles), and the resourceful Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) to save the galaxy and deliver laughs light-years wide.

Packed with hysterical one-liners, gleeful sight gags and nods to every sci-fi trope imaginable, Spaceballs remains a riotous interstellar romp. Endlessly quotable and effortlessly rewatchable, its Brooks at his most irreverent in this or any other galaxy.
