Gillo Pontecorvos The Battle of Algiers (1966) remains one of cinemas most powerful depictions of urban guerrilla warfare. Shot in a raw documentary style, the film chronicles the Algerian struggle against French colonial rule, capturing the moral ambiguities of revolution, occupation, and state repression. With Ennio Morricones haunting score, it stands as both political thriller and war drama a landmark in world cinema and anti-colonial storytelling.
