The Departed (2006) is an American crime thriller directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, and Jack Nicholson. The film is a remake of the Hong Kong crime thriller Infernal Affairs (2002), reimagining its undercover police narrative within the world of Bostons Irish mob. Following a double-infiltration between law enforcement and organized crime, the story builds escalating psychological tension around identity, loyalty, and corruption. The Departed won the Academy Award for Best Picture, along with Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.
