The French Connection (1971)
Directed by William Friedkin, The French Connection follows two New York detectives as they pursue an international heroin smuggling ring, driving the case toward one of cinemas most famous chases. The film blends gritty realism with documentary-style tension, emphasizing surveillance, instinct, and urban unpredictability. Its uncompromising tone and kinetic energy made it a defining work of 1970s crime cinema.

French Connection II (1975)
Directed by John Frankenheimer, French Connection II continues the story as Detective Popeye Doyle travels to Marseille to confront the drug kingpin who escaped him in New York. The film blends procedural intensity with a more personal descent as Doyle faces brutal setbacks in unfamiliar territory. Its stark tone and character-focused approach create a darker, more introspective follow-up to the original.
