Sergio Corbuccis The Hellbenders is a brutal Spaghetti Western about a fanatical Confederate officer and his sons who massacre Union soldiers to steal funds for a new rebellion. With Joseph Cotten in a rare western role and Corbuccis trademark cynicism, the film delivers violence, greed, and moral decay against the backdrop of post Civil War America.
