Directed by Herman Yau, The Legend Is Born: Ip Man stars Dennis To as a younger Ip Man in a standalone martial-arts film about his early training and development as a Wing Chun fighter. Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao and Ip Chun co-star in a story built around kung-fu schools, teacher-student relationships, rival styles and martial-arts discipline. The film connects the Ip Man screen tradition with Hong Kong kung-fu cinema and early-life martial-arts drama.
