Directed by Michael Haneke, The Piano Teacher stars Isabelle Huppert as Erika Kohut, a respected Vienna piano teacher whose tightly controlled public life conceals obsessive and self-destructive sexual desires. Her relationship with a younger student, played by Benoît Magimel, develops into an increasingly disturbing struggle over intimacy, humiliation and control. Based on Elfriede Jelineks book, the film won the Grand Prix at Cannes, where Huppert and Magimel also received the Best Actress and Best Actor awards.
