Set in an alternate post-war Japan, The Place Promised in Our Early Days follows three teenagers bound by a childhood promise tied to a mysterious tower beyond the border. As time passes, personal distance and political divisions reshape their lives and dreams. Makoto Shinkai blends intimate emotional drama with speculative science fiction to explore memory, longing, and parallel realities.
