The Ring (2002)
Directed by Gore Verbinski, The Ring follows a journalist investigating a cursed videotape that causes the deaths of viewers seven days after watching it. The film blends investigative mystery with atmospheric horror, using muted visuals and steady tension to build dread. Its haunting imagery and psychological focus helped popularize J-horror remakes in the West.

The Ring Two (2005)
Directed by Hideo Nakata, The Ring Two continues the story as Rachel and her son attempt to escape Samaras lingering influence after relocating to a new town. The film blends supernatural intrusion with themes of possession and maternal fear, deepening the bond between its central characters. Its quieter pacing and focus on emotional vulnerability extend the curses mythology.

Rings (2017)
Directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez, Rings revisits the mythos as a college student becomes entangled in a digital revival of the cursed video, uncovering new layers to Samaras history. The film blends updated technology-driven fear with traditional investigative beats. Its mix of modern settings and returning motifs expands the legend into a contemporary context.
