Directed by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker (ZAZ), the filmmaking trio behind Airplane! and The Naked Gun, Top Secret! stars Val Kilmer in his film debut as an American singer caught up in an espionage plot in East Germany. Blending Cold War spy conventions with musical elements, the story follows a resistance movement attempting to stop a military conspiracy. The film is structured around rapid visual gags and genre parody.
