Directed by Shūhei Yabuta, Vinland Saga adapts Makoto Yukimuras historical manga about Thorfinn, a young Viking shaped by war, revenge and his years among the mercenary band led by Askeladd. Set during the Viking expansion in eleventh-century Europe, the anime follows conflicts involving Danish warriors, Prince Canute and the conquest of England before shifting towards Thorfinns enslavement and search for a life beyond violence. The series combines animated action, historical drama and war storytelling with themes of vengeance, freedom and the dream of reaching Vinland.
