Developed by Ronald D. Moore and starring Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan, Outlander follows a World War II nurse who is mysteriously transported from 1945 to 18th-century Scotland, where she becomes involved in the Jacobite uprisings and forms a life-changing relationship with Highland warrior Jamie Fraser. Combining historical drama, romance and fantasy, the series explores love, loyalty, survival and political conflict across multiple centuries. Based on Diana Gabaldons bestselling novels, the story blends time travel with Scottish history and long-form character drama.
