In the 2005 film adaptation of The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, Arthur Dent escapes Earths sudden destruction and embarks on a wildly illogical journey across space with an alien researcher and a deeply depressed robot. As planets perish and bureaucracies reign supreme, the film delivers an absurdist cosmic adventure driven by British wit and existential humor. It blends large-scale space opera with offbeat sci-fi comedy.

Från IMDB:
Mere seconds before the Earth is to be demolished by an alien construction crew, journeyman Arthur Dent is swept off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher penning a new edition of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
