Stephen Sommers The Mummy (1999) reimagines the Universal classic as a pulpy action-adventure. Brendan Fraser stars as Rick OConnell, who battles the resurrected priest Imhotep amid ancient tombs, curses, and swarms of undead. Blending swashbuckling spectacle, horror-inspired monsters, and romantic fantasy, it became a defining 1990s adventure blockbuster.

The Mummy Returns (2001) raises the stakes with Imhoteps return and the awakening of the Scorpion King, played by Dwayne Johnson. Mixing CGI spectacle with pulp adventure, it expands the franchises mythology with epic battles, ancient curses, and the fate of the world in balance.

Rob Cohens Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008) shifts the saga to China, where Rick OConnell (Brendan Fraser) faces a resurrected emperor (Jet Li) commanding a terracotta army. With Michelle Yeoh as a mystical guardian, the film blends martial arts spectacle, fantasy myth, and undead legions in a global expansion of the Mummy franchise.
