Directed by George Sluizer and starring Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu, Gene Bervoets and Johanna ter Steege, The Vanishing follows a man whose girlfriend disappears without trace during a holiday in France. Years later, his obsessive search draws him into direct contact with the man responsible for her disappearance. Based on Tim Krabbés book The Golden Egg, the Dutch psychological thriller won the Golden Calf for Best Film, while Johanna ter Steege received the European Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.
