They Live (1988), directed by John Carpenter, is a science-fiction action thriller that follows a drifter who discovers that society is secretly controlled by alien elites using subliminal messages. Armed with special sunglasses, he uncovers a hidden reality of manipulation, consumerism, and authoritarian power. Blending pulp sci-fi with social satire, the film has become a cult cornerstone of late-Cold-War paranoia cinema.

Från IMDB:
They influence our decisions without us knowing it. They numb our senses without us feeling it. They control our lives without us realizing it. They live.
