Wrong Turn (2021), directed by Mike P. Nelson, is a reboot of the horror franchise that reimagines the concept as a survival story set deep in the Appalachian wilderness. Starring Charlotte Vega, the film follows a group of hikers who encounter a hostile, isolationist community with brutal traditions. Unlike the original films, the reboot emphasizes survival, social conflict, and moral consequences over slasher-style body count.

Från IMDB:
Friends hiking the Appalachian Trail are confronted by The Foundation, a community of people who have lived in the mountains for hundreds of years.
