Michael Vennard has been a life-long cyclist but had never heard of an organised ride in the USA that has been run annually there since the 1970s. This is a multi-day ride across the state of Iowa that around 30,000 people participate in every year. In the 21st Century, you would have thought it would be easy to get there and ride it. But things don’t go quite to plan. This is the story of how Michael completed the ride, with the help and generosity of the strangers he met there and along the way. Michael had experienced what Iowans like to call ‘Iowa Nice’.
