The NeverEnding Story (1984)
Directed by Wolfgang Petersen, The NeverEnding Story follows Bastian, a lonely boy who discovers a mysterious book and becomes drawn into the threatened fantasy world of Fantasia. As the young warrior Atreyu searches for a way to save the Childlike Empress, he encounters the luckdragon Falkor, the Rockbiter and other creatures while the destructive Nothing consumes the realm. Based on Michael Endes book, the film combines family fantasy, an epic quest and a coming-of-age story that became closely associated with 1980s fantasy cinema.

The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter (1990)
Directed by George T. Miller, The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter stars Jonathan Brandis as Bastian, who returns to Fantasia after the Childlike Empress calls for his help. Alongside Atreyu and Falkor, he faces the sorceress Xayide, whose wish-granting machine gradually steals his memories of the human world. Drawing further material from Michael Endes book, the sequel continues the family fantasy adventure with magical creatures, an endangered realm and Bastians struggle to find the courage to return home.
