Philip Kaufmans Rising Sun (1993), adapted from Michael Crichtons bestseller, blends murder mystery and corporate intrigue in 1990s Los Angeles. When a young woman is found dead during a lavish party at a Japanese conglomerates headquarters, two detectives uncover a web of power, technology, and cultural tension.
